Before travelling to any local or international destination it’s generally a great idea to put together a list of places you would like to visit and activities you would like to do.
Don’t plan excessively. I had a hazy idea of what each day would be like, but we ended up scrapping any sort of plan and going along with the flow, so to say. It all worked out.
Take your camera. I was pedantic about carrying along my beautiful camera because I use it work mostly. But I am so glad we had taken it along. Memories captured forever do have a certain magic to it.
Pack a keen sense of adventure. Do the extraordinary. Try the street food, visit over-populated markets and learn Creole.
Eat to your heart’s content. I will highly recommend the dhal puri, coconut ice cream and mango milkshakes. We ate yams, palm heart and had some great sashimi. All in all, eat it all just for a taste festival.
Now that you know how to approach all that Mauritius has to offer, where do you begin?
- Chamarel Sands
- Hindu Temples in the South
- Rum Saint Aubin Distillery
- Pamplemousse National Gardens
- Bois Cheri Tea Plantation
Look out for my next post about Mauritius soon!
