Dry cracked lips are so annoying. I cannot stand dry lips and with cooler months rolling in, generally, skin tends to enjoy looking ashy and drab. Lathering yourself up in body butter and soaking in milk may keep your skin looking hydrated – but what about your lips?

My lip care routine consists of three remedies which seem to be working for me this far.

Easy peasy lip balm

And I mean not the tinted, flavoured ones. Go for something that is guaranteed to keeps your lips moisturised. I am currently using the Labello Med Repair and although I have to reapply often, it leaves my lips feeling smooth. This is perfect for day-to-day use.

Sweet DIY lip scrub

Although the bubblegum lip scrub from Lush is still a favourite of mine, I am in no hurry to purchase it anytime soon because of how simple and effective this DIY is.

Ingredients:

  • 2tsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla

Mix all these ingredients until well combined. The texture should resemble a sticky mess that smells like vanilla heaven. Depot into a bottle or container and keep it in the fridge. I recommend using this once a week, applying it on for about five to eight minutes before washing it off. Take it out a few hours before you want to use it so that it is at room temperature.

Towel Rescue

I do this whenever I am going to apply lipstick. Dab your lips with a thin moisturiser, lotion or even body cream. Then proceed to rub firmly away with a towel. It will remove all the excess skin and prime your lips.
It isn’t even that much effort but makes all the difference! What works for you?
