I begin this blog post with a newfound sincerity and required growth.

Turning twenty-five set off a growing list of items I needed to urgently check off. Forging a career, adjusting to responsibility and learning to love me. And with all that to consider, I can not ignore the immense gratitude I have for 2017.

My health

Perhaps the one aspect of my life, I have chosen to ignore for the longest time. I would not consider myself sickly, but this year my immune system has proven to me how weak it really is. I have developed a post-nasal drip, bouts of aggressive psoriasis and now chronic low blood pressure. But through all of this, I am so grateful I do have my health because it could be way worse. There are so many people that are going through immensely difficult health situations and sometimes you do need to take a step back and take a reality check.

My Relationships

This year I realised, I have outgrown so many people and have let them fade out of my life. Others were a firm goodbye and some have just drifted away. I have learned that strangers on the internet are kinder to me than blood. I am a happier person for it and for that, I thank the universe.

It has taken twenty-five years to accept myself. This year, I finally started putting myself above others. I have learned so much about myself in the last year and I am so proud of the woman I see in the mirror. I can poke fun at myself, wear my flaws with pride and understand that I do not need to be perfect to be well, perfect. I have battled with anxiety and a few flare-ups of depression through this year, but being mindful of myself and accepting that I do suffer from both, made it feel easier to overcome.

Yes, you. The reader scrolling through this. 2011 to now, has been a rocky six years of finally finding this digital sweet spot. I have created something that I am immensely proud of. I have created a space to inspire, motivate and enhance.  In turn, you have all have inspired me to create quality content. And even if I only have one reader, it is the one that keeps me going.

With that, I need to say ‘Thank you!’ And so I want to give back to you! I am giving away a hamper to the value of R800 – which includes a Lush Blooming Beautiful Bath Bouquet, a Vanilla Chai Treat Box from The Body Shop and a L’Occitane Christmas Crackers Collection. I have put in quite a bit of effort into curating this hamper, with help from my husband too. These are brands that I love, swear by and will continue supporting. This is a self-love pamper package, because the biggest lesson I took away from 2017, was that I am my highest priority.
